We run free maintenance classes for anyone keen to learn the basics of fixing their bicycle.
The maintenance courses run through:
- How to replace and patch an Inner Tube (fix a flat tyre)
- The ‘M-check’ safety check of your bike
- Adjusting gears & brakes
- How to tell when to replace items (brake pads, rims, bearing etc.)
- Adjusting your headset
- What products & techniques to use to care for your bike
Split into two parts, the course runs from 9:30am – 12:30pm on a Wednesday, with the second half at the same time the following Wednesday.
The courses are fairly informal and while there is a lot to fit in in a short time it is open to questions throughout. The courses are hands-on with bikes supplied by the Hub for you to practice on. You are also welcome to cycle down on your own bike and store it in our free secure bike parking facility, we can provide advice on the specific mechanics of that bike if required. After the courses we will e-mail you (if provided) an electronic course manual filled full of the instructions that you have learnt about on the day.
Due to limited spaces on the courses we do require that participants book on so you can let us know by phone on 01642 617 672, by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or by popping in to see us at the Hub 147 High Street, TS181PL.
