Stockton Active Travel runs a variety of walking and cycling activities throughout the Stockton area. The project is based at The Hub in central Stockton, a dedicated one-stop resource centre providing volunteering opportunities, training, information and outreach services to give people the skills and equipment that they need to walk and cycle more often.
Activities and events
The Hub provides free, safe and secure bike storage, including lockers and changing rooms for people travelling into Stockton, .
We are open from Monday to Friday, 7.30am – 5:30pm.
Information, advice and recycled bike sales
Pop into the Hub from Monday to Friday, where the Active Travel team are on hand to offer advice on walking and cycling routes, local maps, public transport information and personalised route planning advice.
The Hub offers a free half day maintenance course as well as Bicycle Association accredited Velotch cycle maintenance courses. Contact us for information about cycle maintenance classes at the Hub.
Guided walks and cycle rides
A variety of regular weekday and weekend guided rides and walks set off from the Hub and other locations in the Stockton area. Our bike rides cater for all abilities from returning cyclists and beginners in our ‘Easy Riders’ program to the more adventurous evening challenge rides.

University of Durham Queens Campus cycle hire scheme
For only £10 per term, students at the University of Durham Queens Campus can hire a reconditioned bike from Stockton Active Travel. In this academic year over 160 bikes were loaned out to give students more freedom around town, and help them get to lectures on time!
