1st Cycle Sisters ride of the year

This weekend we’ve got the beginning of the Cycle Sisters womens only rides.  The Billie Fleming tribute ride begins at Aldi Car Park in Yarm at 10am Saturday 9th April.  40 miles (Grade 4) are planned around North Yorkshire with a cafe stop included.

Billie cycled every day throughout 1938 with the aim of showcasing the benefits of cycling for women’s health.  A woman well ahead of her time! In the course of that year, she cycled just short of 30,000 miles, on her trusty Rudge-Whitworth road bike. Billie lived to the grand old age of 100 years.  She died in 2014.
Our 40 mile ride will be quite tame in comparison with Billie’s average of 80 miles per day. Whilst rolling, the route doesn’t take you up into the North York Moores so should be doable for most experienced cyclists.  If you are unsure then please get in touch with the Hub team.  We’re afraid that due to the start location we cannot provide bikes or helmets for loaning on this ride.
