From the Billie Fleming Facebook:

“In 1938, Billie Fleming, cycled 29,603 miles around the UK promoting cycling for women, for health & fitness. Billie died last year, aged 100! Throughout 2015, we are paying tribute to Billie’s amazing achievements by inviting women to cycle: we hope to have at least one woman cycling in tribute everyday of the year, where possible following Billie’s tracks and if possible covering Billie’s mileage. We are also organising Ride like Billie days to encourage greater participation. Cyclists can ride as much or as little of a stage they choose – every mile counts!”
